Best Sports Movies

In my last Poll of the Moment, I asked you - devoted readers and culture consumers - which was your favorite sports movie. I was curious as I'd just begun my soccer script for ESPN. And the critics have spoken! Your top choices were Victory, Hoosiers, the Replacements, Caddyshack, Rounders, Vision Quest, Bull Durham, Breaking Away, Any Given Sunday, Remember the Titans, da Rockies, Happy Gilmore, and Brian’s Song.

Any movies missing from that list?

The best sports movie ever is the original BAD NEWS BEARS (1976). It nails everything that is wrong - and right - about organized sports. And it's funny as hell on top of it all.

What about "Rudy" (1993)? It's a classic! Or, more recently, "Friday Night Lights"?

Hey Gregg - Congrats on the new book. It's exciting to see all your success !

My vote for one of the best sports movies of all time has to go to "RUDY" .. even though I am not a big ND fan.
