Once again, I feel like it would be cheating to answer, but I did recently read that the author of this book cited THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE as one of this book's major influences.

He was also no stranger to the works of Dostoevsky, which he adapted to the stage.

Um? It could be any novel where a mother dies in the storyline. Of course, it took me a moment to realize that you were doing a book quote, Gregg! (PS All is well with me!)
